The Allentown Art Festival has been a Buffalo tradition since 1957. Started by buffalonians' Jason Natowitz and Louis Cherenzia in the Allentown Historic District. Originally named The Buffalo Art Festival, the festival has been rated as the most colorful and cultural event in Buffalo NY since the 1901 Pan-American Exposition. The success of the festival spurred the creation of the Allentown Village Society. It runs the festival each year. The festival runs throughout the Allentown Historic District which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Two buildings in this historic district are also listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Kleinhans Music Hall, where the Buffalo Phil Harmonic (BPO) typically hold concerts and the Birge-Horton House. Three parks are included in this historic district. These parks are: Arlington Park (past home of Frank Lloyd Wright), Days Park and Symphony Circle all designed by the famous Frederick Law Olmsted. The Olmstead park system extends beyond this historic district. It is quite a remarkable achievement. If time permits, discover the other parks, they are beautiful additions to the city of Buffalo. Lastly, just remember when walking through the Allentown Art Festival 2019, one is walking on historic land. What a better place for an Art Festival!
