Hoyt Lake & Marcy Casino

Former State Sen. Mark Grisanti helped secure $100,000 from the NYS Environmental Protection Fund. These funds went to revitalize the area which included a $50,000 water pump removal and installation. The Water pump helps oxygenate the water. Mayor Byron Brown secured funds for revitalization of the area as well.

Hoyt Lake Activities

The walk around Hoyt Lake is just about a mile and a quarter. Some parts are concrete, paved surface, grass and dirt. As far back as the late 1800's the area has been used for running, jogging, school track practice, ice skating, boating, fishing, dog friendly park, weddings, wedding receptions, wedding pictures, special events and more. Although swimming is not allowed.

Hoyt Lake is a serene place. It is isolated from road noise and other disturbances. It can give one a sense of relief from the stop and go effect of everyday city life. There is beautiful greenery and diverse wildlife. There are statues and monuments. Some hidden and some not. A good example of one in plain view is the statue of David. There are paths that travel in different directions and some that connect at certain points.

When walking from the northeast section and looking across the lake, the view of the Albright Knox Art Gallery is quite breathtaking. This being even more so when skies are blue. If your best friend likes to swim, there is an area ideal for that too. I'm talking about the four legged friend of course. Human swimming is not allowed unless genetically part fish. Just joking. But seriously no swimming.
