While the Genesee Brewing Company in Rochester may be the oldest brewery in the state, the Buffalo Brew Pub  is the oldest Brewery that is also a a pub. You could say the Buffalo Brew Pub started a trend. For instance, quite a few new breweries are also sit down and drink pubs. One example is Big Ditch brewery right here in metro Buffalo NY.
