Beaver Island Beach is a shoreline off the east Niagara River channel. Grand Island NY cuts the Niagara River into two channels (east and west). These channels flow at different rates. The east channel being slightly slower at 1 and a 1/2 MPH.
Beaver Island Beach would have ranked #1 but the beach can be seaweedy at times. There are rocks under the water in places and the sand is a bit rough. Floatables are not allowed in the water. That being said, it really is nothing to worry about. it's a safe place the whole family can enjoy and lifeguards are on duty during regular swim hours. The Water quality is usually above average. However, with geological conditions changing each season, it's a good idea to call ahead. Curious about Cyberbuffalo's #1 beach pick? Simply tap the beaches tag on this page to see.
